It’s a busy time of year alright. Things have been crazy busy the last few weeks, which is always great. But it does make life a little hectic, juggling a family of five, and a business. Once again I burned the candle at both ends, burned out and we all came down sick. Some antibiotics, and a good hard look at my business workflow, some much needed changes, and I feel like I’m coming out the other end a lot better off now. As the end of the financial year approaches all too fast, I’m finalising all the boring stuff, but also searching for and ordering new samples and working out next years packages, which is fun, it’s nice when new goodies arrive, and there are some seriously yummy products arriving around here. I can’t wait to share all this yummyness with my clients. So, that’s all the boring business-y stuff, which I’m sure is not all that interesting to everyone else, so how about some photos of a stunning family. How adorable are these brothers. I love the dynamics of a family with a large age gap between children. And I just love that beautiful soft fading light. Makes me happy

I have been so lucky to have photographed Talia and Ethan a few times in the past, and just recently I had the privilege of meeting their adorable and all too delicious baby brother Aydin. There is just something so special about this little family. They are sweet and warm, and welcoming, they are fun and so natural around me and allow me in to capture their sweet little personalities. Sweet little Aydin is just as special. He slept for me for almost the entire session, which I think was about 4hrs!
Debbi came to my recent mini session day, and we captured some gorgeous photos of her belly then. It’s beautiful to be invited back to meet this sweet little babe. Ahh I tell you, he almost makes me clucky again.
Congratulations Deb and Mem. He’s just perfect. xx
Quiet here means it’s busy behind the scenes! After landing back in Melbourne things have been a bit of a whirlwind, and I feel like I’m just starting to sort myself out again. While I was away there was a lot of progress happening on the new studio, and my good hubby kept me up to date with lots of picture messages on my phone. So I got home to find it 90% complete, and I am in love with my new space and couldn’t wait to move in (that’s a whole new post coming soon). I’ve been busy working on a large family session, which I’d love to share with you all, but it’s a bit of a secret for a while longer, as it’s a birthday present for a very special someone and I’d hate to be the one to let the cat out of the bag so to speak. So I will share that session once it’s all out in the open. And I’ve also been working hard on some commercial sessions, but they’re not really suitable for sharing here either… so I know it will make you sad (not!) to see some more workshop photos instead. There are more coming. I know I said that in my last post, and has been a while… but they are coming, and hopefully soon! Please bear with me while I catch my breath.
Recently I had the absolute pleasure of flying to Canberra to attend a workshop held by Barb Uil of JinkyArt Photography. Barb is in my mind (and many others!!) is THE best child photographer in Australia… and beyond! I have admired her work for years, she is an amazing, creative photographer, and such a genuinely beautiful person. Barb and her team put an amazing amount of work into her workshops. Nothing is too much to ask for. You want a horse for your session… sure, here’s a horse LOL Over the three days we photographed 17 different sessions. All just amazing as each other. When I got there I knew my friend Belinda from Garland Photography in Sydney. When I left 3 days later I had another 11 beautiful women to call my friends. It was hard to be away from my family for that amount of time, especially Amelia who is generally hitching a ride on my hip all day long, and it was wonderful to get home and have my little chickens back under my wings again, but so, so, so worth going. I’ll be posting more photos from the workshop over the next week or so, so stayed tuned to see more
Four days away from work, means I have a ton, and I mean a TON of work to get through, and I also need to blog some exciting new studio news too. Lots coming up, so pop back often to keep up to date. But for now, here are some photos from one of those 17 amazing sessions.
Caleb, Will & Ben | Langwarrin family photographer
May 19, 2010I can’t help but share some more images from this beautiful family. These little boys just have my heart. They were so much fun. When Lisa booked she told me that her boys were the best of friends, and they sure are. Their bond was so obvious. They just adore each other. And I adored spending the afternoon with such a warm, loving and friendly family.
For Lisa | Mornington Peninsula family photographer
May 16, 2010When Lisa contacted me to organise a session for her three gorgeous boys, she asked about having the session on their property. Lisa and Glenn recently built this BEAUTIFUL home, and really wanted their family photos taken in front of it. I just loved the idea. Can you imaging looking back at the photos in 10 or 20 years time seeing how much everything has grown and changed. Their home and their boys. And remembering these times.
Lisa and Glenn, thank you for welcoming me into your home. I’ll have lots more gorgeous photos to share soon, but really wanted to show you this sneak peek… We got one
When Stella first called me to arrange a session, she asked if I’d go out to their farm. I was giddy with excitment the moment she suggested it. You see, her interstate friend had organised a voucher for Stella’s Christmas present. It was only a few days before Christmas and there was a nation wide postage strike on, so I suggested that I drop the voucher off to them. As I drove down the road looking for the right number property, I was drawing nearer and nearer to one of ‘those’ properties. There are a few around. The ones that you would just love to see further inside. The ones that even though you can’t see much from the road, you know that beyond those gates there’s an amazing space that my creativity has been waiting for. Little flutters of excitement bubbled up inside me as we got closer and closer, and finally those numbers on the letter box confirmed it for me. Whoot! I was in my element. Now if I thought the property was gorgeous… it had nothing on Stella and her amazingly beautiful family. Like most teenagers, they were not too keen on the idea of having their photos taken, but they soon realised it wasn’t going to be one of ‘those’ sessions. We had a ball together, as they led the way, showing me all the places they love. I really enjoyed my time with them all, and I really love the images we captured… so much I’ve had a lot of trouble selecting for their gallery, so it’s huge, but here is a little taste of a few of my favourite shots.
Stella, Dean, Adele, Alex and Ally, thank you for such a great afternoon. You are an amazing warm, friendly, caring and loving family, and it was an absolute joy and pleasure to be around you all.
Ben | Berwick child photographer
April 9, 2010Last week I popped out to Berwick to photograph little Ben and his beautiful family in their home. I just love being around families and soaking up all the love they have for their children, and this mummy and daddy just oozed love and pride for their little man. I arrived just as Ben was eating his breakfast, and he was such a gorgeous little thing, sitting up in his chair while his daddy fed him. He beamed a gorgeous smile at me from across the room and I knew it was going to be a fun morning. We played and played until Ben was ready to drop. Thank you K&R for welcoming me into your home. I really enjoyed my morning with you all (and I thought about that mars bar slice for the rest of the day!) I hope you love your full gallery as much as I do.
