Archive for January, 2011
Today: After such a huge day yesterday, today was a kick back with an icypole on the deck kind of day. There was a little Xboxing, pool splashing, swinging, lego building, Hot-wheeling, pram pushing, dolly dressing, puzzle solving, tea making, drawing and reading going on. Basically a whole lot of present testing. And boy, were there a lot of presents! There’s a lot of people who love my little ones, and I feel so very blessed my heart swells.
So there you have it. And delivered on time. 31 days of January. 31 peeks into our lives. Thank you to those who have followed along with me each day. For the taking the time to leave me a comment, a facebook message, an email and even the giggles when I’ve run into you in the supermarket – Thank you! It’s a big project to undertake each year, and your comments and feedback always help keep me motivated, I truly appreciate each and every one of them.
So my Photo A Day for this year might be over, but I’ll still be back, with regular posts to share. 2011 is going to be an amazing year, and I’m so looking forward the amazing opportunities coming up!

Today: On the spur of the moment we decided to pack up the kiddos, order some fish’n'chips and head off for a ride in Brett’s beloved green Polycraft, or ‘the Green Machine’ as it’s otherwise known. Millie’s first ride in the boat! We launched at Fishies Beach in Mornington, and drove around to one of the quiet beaches, beneath the cliffs of Mount Martha, pulled the boat up on the sand and ate our not so gourmet, but very yummy dinner. The boys had a swim. Amelia had a paddle. They ran. They climbed. They jumped. They laughed. Then we all climbed back into the boat and drove down to the marina at Safety beach, before heading back to dry land. Today was special. Special because we all ignored the party preparations, the cleaning, the work, the schedules, (the diet!) and we grabbed the chance to just enjoy the moment. Enjoy the evening together. Talking, laughing, listening, playing. All together as the sun went down.

Today: We are right in the middle of birthday party planning (hence why I keep falling a day or so behind here!) Amelia and Ethan’s birthdays are only 12 days apart, and my niece and my mum’s birthdays are also in there. So this year we decided to combine their birthdays and celebrate both with one party. Now after planning 14 boys birthday parties between Liam and Ethan, I was looking forward to planning Miss Millie’s party. I had visions of a shabby chic tea party kind of shindig. When I spotted this Missy Melly dress I knew I just had to have it for her birthday, and when I mentioned to Mrs Missy Melly (Shan) that it was for Amelia’s party she offered to do a custom order for some matching bunting – which is what I’d spent days searching online for! I just adore it, and it will match her room perfectly, so will go in there eventually.
BUT.
Then we decided we needed to combine Millie and Ethan’s birthdays. And I’m pretty sure a big six year old boy does not want a shabby chic tea party for his birthday. So plans had to shift a little.
But Millie is still going to wear this dress! So here she is, for the traditional birthday portrait.

Today: The boys got their Xbox Kinect for Christmas, and they just love it. I must admit Brett and I find it a lot of fun too, and I don’t even like computer games usually. Ethan loves pingpong, and is surprisingly good at it! Well co-ordinated little thing he is! Liam loves the athletics – which he’s also really good at. And they both love the boxing. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s amazing how sore my muscles were the next day!

Today: We had a nice quiet day at home with a BBQ dinner before heading out to see the fireworks at Mornington. You all loved them, I think Ethan the most. Amelia was happy to be safe in daddy’s arms, and as long as she was there she was not scared of the noise.

Today: You spent the day at Family daycare. You had a wonderful time, starting with a walk to the beach. You didn’t sleep as long as usual, and you were a little bit tired and grumpy when we got home. Water always makes you feel better though, whether it’s a bath, a shower, a play in the pool or just watering the garden. You got this little water and sand table for your birthday, so we headed out on to the deck. At first you didn’t want anything to do with it (or anything else!), but you sat quietly on my lap while I started to play with the water and the toys. Within a few minutes you stood up and started to dip your hands into the cool water, and just like that soothing water washing over your hands, your worries washed away, and the happy little girl we know was back.

Today: It’s been two amazing years since you came into the world. At 6.35am on Saturday 24th January 2009 you were born. Six weeks early and weighing 5lb 9oz. Your early arrival sparked a huge roller-coaster of events and emotions. All of which I’m sure happened for a reason. You have come so far in the past two years. You have taught us so much. You have given us all so much love and completely changed the dynamics of our family. You are one very adored little girl, blessed with family and friends who will love and protect you every day of your life. I only got to hold you for 30 seconds on this day two years ago. Tonight you fell asleep in my arms. You will always be my baby girl, and you will be loved and cherished always. Happy birthday my darling xx

Today: Oh boy! The two of you together are a little pair of clowns. I admit, you have me in hysterics numerous times a day. You both know exactly how to work me. You are the noisy two. Ethan has owned the nickname Foghorn for quite a few years now. Amelia is up for the challenge to take over that one. If there is mischief to be had, you two will be there! Even the most basic task… putting pyjamas on Amelia while Ethan brushes his teeth turns into a circus nightly. I think I need to quarantine the two of you at opposite ends of the house once school goes back, or we’ll never get out the door! xx

Today: Amelia was eating her cereal and cracking up laughing with enormous belly laughs. I looked up from my place on the toast production line to find Liam pulling faces at her, and she was trying to do the same thing back to him. She just lights up the minute the boys give her attention (which is pretty often!). They know it, and they love it.
