I loved meeting Kylie, Ryan and Logan a few weeks ago when they all came in for Kylie’s maternity session, and I was so excited to see them all again and meet Ryan and Logan’s new baby sister Paige, and their daddy this time too. I felt very at home with this little family. Not only because Kylie and David have two boys and then a baby girl, but also the age gap between all three children is the same as between all three of mine. Paige is just beautiful and happy to show us her big blue eyes. She stayed wide awake for most of her session taking in everything that was going on around her, but she was so calm and content. She did drift off to sleep for a little while, just long enough for me to catch a few shots of her sleeping blissfully.

Congratulations Kylie and David. You have the perfect little family. Thank you for trusting me to capture this amazing and special time xx

Pregnancy will always amaze me. Even after carrying three of my own babies I will never tire of the amazing miracle of new life forming and how our bodies adapt and change to protect and provide for our cherished little ones as they form and grow. It amazes me, that 8 or 9 months ago this little person didn’t exist, and now here they are, almost ready to meet the world, with every little body part perfectly formed and a spirit of their own.

Claire’s beautiful sisters organised her maternity session as a surprise for her baby shower. They came along with her, and it we had a great time in the studio capturing this little miracle in his or her last weeks on the inside.

When Brett built the kids fort, the plan was to build in the area under the slide as a cubby house. But after speaking to other cubby owners, who kept telling me their cubbies were full of spiders and the kids don’t play in them, we decided not to. So we thought maybe we’d build a sandpit underneath. But we have neighbours cats that visit our garden, and I know the sandpit wouldn’t end up being covered and would end up with cat poop in it (and that was before we even owned a kitten). Then one day a few weeks ago, the idea came to me to hang sheets up and make a sort of tent/cubby. We just quickly nailed some calico into the top and tied it back on the two open sides with strips of ripped fabric (literally ‘quickly!’, we did it in less than 5 mins) and the kids LOVED it. I’m planning on just attaching some elastic curtain wire on hooks, then I can just sew a channel to  thread that through to hang them – or any other old sheets etc, and they’ll be easy to take down if needed. Kiddies happy… Mummy happy.

I thought I might start to share a couple of the shots that didn’t make the cut for one reason or another (mainly that it’s supposed to be ‘A’ photo a day, and I already made it multiple photos every day :)

Today: It can be a bit of a problem when you love to close doors, but you can’t reach the handles to open them again – Amelia, locked in my bedroom, playing peek a boo with me under the door. I wish you could hear her giggling. Just looking at the photo brings it all back to me and I can hear her gorgeous giggle all over again.

Today: The boys got their Xbox Kinect for Christmas, and they just love it. I must admit Brett and I find it a lot of fun too, and I don’t even like computer games usually. Ethan loves pingpong, and is surprisingly good at it! Well co-ordinated little thing he is! Liam loves the athletics – which he’s also really good at. And they both love the boxing. It’s a lot of fun, and it’s amazing how sore my muscles were the next day!

Today: We had a nice quiet day at home with a BBQ dinner before heading out to see the fireworks at Mornington. You all loved them, I think Ethan the most. Amelia was happy to be safe in daddy’s arms, and as long as she was there she was not scared of the noise.

Today: It’s been two amazing years since you came into the world. At 6.35am on Saturday 24th January 2009 you were born. Six weeks early and weighing 5lb 9oz. Your early arrival sparked a huge roller-coaster of events and emotions. All of which I’m sure happened for a reason. You have come so far in the past two years. You have taught us so much. You have given us all so much love and completely changed the dynamics of our family. You are one very adored little girl, blessed with family and friends who will love and protect you every day of your life. I only got to hold you for 30 seconds on this day two years ago. Tonight you fell asleep in my arms. You will always be my baby girl, and you will be loved and cherished always. Happy birthday my darling xx
